Elle Robinson
Lucinda "Elle" Robinson is a fictional character from the Australian Network Ten soap opera ''Neighbours'', played by Pippa Black. The character first appeared on-screen on 19 September 2005. In June 2009 it was announced that Black had quit the role to pursue other projects, Elle last appeared on 3 December 2009. Elle has been the subject of Retroactive continuity, in which the character was aged considerably. She has been involved in notable storylines including post traumatic stress, pretending to be terminally ill and many scams against fellow characters, through her manipulative persona.
==Character creation and casting==
In September 2005, it was announced that Elle Robinson was joining the show. ''TV Week'' reported that Elle was another "bad girl", who was set to give Izzy Hoyland (Natalie Bassingthwaighte) a "run for her money in the scheming stakes!"〔 Pippa Black was cast as Elle and she revealed that it was her first major role.〔 Black said she was going to London for a working holiday when she learnt that she had got the part.〔 Of joining the cast, she said "I admit I was a little star struck turning up to Ramsay Street and meeting everybody, but they all bent over backwards to help out and settle my nerves."〔
The character has been subject to a plot hole in which she has been aged.〔 In continuity terms Elle was born off-screen in October 1989, when she returned in 2005, she should have been sixteen.〔 Retroactive continuity then began with the SORAS phenomenon being applied to Elle and her two on-screen brothers, where they were aged up to 19 in 2005.〔
In June 2009, Black decided to quit the series to pursue other projects, but she signed a small extension contract for her exit storyline. ''Neighbours'' executive producer Susan Bower decided not to kill the character off and spoke of her admiriation for Black, saying "The door would always be open for Pippa Black. She's been absolutely marvellous." She also said "We've anticipated that Pip would want to spread her wings and have been incredibly privileged to have had her with us for the past three years." Black later revealed she would be willing to return to the role in the future.
